Example of coffee recipe with the OREA V3

Preparation time: approximately 3 to 4 minutes

Necessary material :

  • OREA V3
  • Flat filters (Kalita Wave 185 type or comparable)
  • Coffee grinder (ideally a quality manual or electric grinder)
  • Kettle (preferably with a precise spout)
  • Digital balance
  • Stopwatch
  • Cup or carafe to receive the coffee

Ingredients :

  • Coffee beans: 15 to 18g (depending on the desired strength)
  • Water: 240g (proportion of 1:15 coffee/water)

Steps :

  1. Preheating and rinsing of the filter
    Place your OREA V3 on your cup or carafe and place the filter. Rinse it with hot water to remove the paper taste and preheat the device and your cup. Discard the water after this step.

  2. Coffee grinding
    Use 15 to 18g of coffee depending on your taste (15g for a milder cup, 18g for more intensity). Grind your coffee to a medium-fine grind, similar to the texture of granulated sugar. The V3 is designed for rapid extraction, so a slightly finer grind than with other brewers gives you better flow control.

  3. Water preparation
    Heat your water to a temperature of around 93-96°C. If you don't have a kettle with a temperature control, let the water sit for 30 seconds after boiling to cool slightly.

  4. Pre-infusion (bloom)
    Add your ground coffee to the filter, then pour about 50g of hot water using a circular motion to thoroughly wet all the coffee. Let it “bloom” for 30 to 45 seconds. This step releases the gases and improves the extraction.

  5. Extraction in three installments :

      • First installment: Slowly add 100g of water, to reach a total of 150g (with the bloom included). Pour in regular circles, starting from the center outwards and always avoiding touching the filter directly.
      • Second pour : When the water level drops almost to the level of the coffee (after about 30 seconds), pour another 100g of water , to reach 250g in total. Repeat the same circular movements. If you have a MeloDrip to reduce the fuss at this stage - go for it!
      • Third pouring: When the water goes down again, finish with a final pouring of 50g of water, to reach a total of 300g . Maintains a regular and uniform flow.

  6. Wait and savor
    Once all the water has passed through the coffee (about 3 to 4 minutes), carefully remove the OREA V3 and discard the filter. Shake the cup lightly to homogenize the extraction, and enjoy your coffee.


Additional Tips :

  • Adjust the grind: If extraction takes more than 4 minutes, try a coarser grind. If it's too fast, adjust to a finer grind.
  • Adjusted taste: If your coffee is too bitter, reduce the amount of coffee or use a coarser grind. If it's too acidic, try increasing the amount of coffee or reducing the grind.
